Michael Schackwitz

Michael Schackwitz wurde 1956 in Berlin geboren und studierte  von 1975-1980 Freie Malerei an der Hochschule der Künste Berlin. 1980 Abschluss als Meisterschüler bei Prof. Kuno Gonschior.
1978 arbeitete er als Aufnahmeleiter und Regieassistent bei Claude Sautet in der Produktion »Une histoire simple« mit Romy Schneider.
1981 gewann er den 1. Preis der »Neuen Darmstädter Sezession«.
Von 1982–83 erhielt er ein Jahresstipendium des Deutschen Akademischen Ausstauschdienstes DAAD nach Italien.
1985 gewann der das »Villa Serpentara« Stipendium der Akademie der Künste Berlin nach Olevano Romano in Italien.
Seine Arbeiten werden international ausgestellt und sind in verschiedenen Sammlungen vertreten.
Er arbeitet u. a. mit expressiver Malerei und Temperaarbeiten, filigranen Pastellzeichnungen auf Velourpapier, Collagen, abstrakten Tuschearbeiten und zuletzt großformatigen figurativ/surrealen Ölbildern.
Inspiriert durch die ersten »iPad« Bilder von David Hockney, arbeitet er seit 2012 verstärkt mit dem Ipad, Iphone und zahlreichen Apps als Arbeitsmittel. Dabei entstand 2016 eine IPad Art Edition. Diese Arbeiten werden als Inkjetprints auf FineArtpaper, Leinwand oder als großformatige Sublimationsdrucke realisiert.
2014 gründete er mit dem Performancekünstler Marko Lakobrija die Filmproduktion FILMINSKY, die sich auf experimentelle Shortfilms und Musikvideos spezialisiert.
Zuletzt wurde mit dem Filmkomponisten Arno Fisser das Musikvideo »Cinci Linci« realisiert und auf dem Filmfestival BERLIN SHORT 2017 welturaufgeführt.

Michael Schackwitz was born in Berlin in 1956 and studied from 1975 to 1980 free painting at the Berlin University of the Arts. 1980 graduated as “Meisterschüler” from professor Kuno Gonschior. In 1978 he worked as a production manager and assistant director for Claude Sautet in the production »Une histoire simple« with Romy Schneider.
In 1981 he won the 1st prize in the “New Darmstadt Secession”. From 1982–83 he received an annual scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to Italy. In 1989 he won the “Villa Serpentara” scholarship from the Berlin Academy of the Arts to Olevano Romano in Italy. His works are exhibited internationally and are represented in various collections.
He works u. a. with expressive painting and tempera works, filigree pastel drawings on velor paper, collages, abstract ink works and finally large-format figurative / surreal oil paintings.
Inspired by David Hockney’s first »iPad« pictures, he has been working increasingly with the iPad, iPhone and numerous apps since 2012.
An iPad Art Edition was created in 2016. These works are realized as inkjet prints on fine art paper, canvas or as large-format sublimation prints.
In 2014 he founded the film production FILMINSKY with the performance artist Marko Lakobrija, which specializes in experimental short films and music videos.
Most recently, the music video »Cinci Linci« was realized with the film composer Arno Fisser and premiered at the BERLIN SHORT 2017 film festival.
